The population of Stockholm is increasing continuously

A city in constant motion

It is calculated that an additional half million people will live in the capital by 2030. At the same time the number of cars on the roads is increasing, which leads to increased congestion on the roads and streets with negative environmental impact. Trafik Stockholm contributes to increasing accessibility, reducing the number of accidents whilst minimizing the environmental impact.

Trafik Stockholm is a traffic management centre

We collect, process and provide traffic information around the clock, all year round in the counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Västmanland, Örebro, Södermanland, Östergötland and Gotland. The centre is responsible for the delivery of information about the current traffic situation to the public and other interested parties via radio, internet and mobile services. The Swedish Transport Administration, the City of Stockholm and the municipality of Nacka, runs Trafik Stockholm jointly.

Road Assistance

In Stockholm, there are a number of Road Assistance lorries working with prompt and effective removal of traffic hazards and disruptions. The assistance vehicles are fully equipped to be able to offer rapid assistance at minor breakdowns, provide fuel for empty tanks and remove traffic hazards.

Traffic information

Journeys can be planned with the help of current traffic information. We convey traffic information to road users and partners through various channels; web sites, apps, Swedish Radio, commercial radio stations, text TV and navigation systems with a built-in TMC receiver. You can plan your route and avoid unnecessary traffic queues caused, for example, by road works for better journeys. Trafiken.nu is a web and mobile service where you can receive an up-to-date picture of the traffic situation in Stockholm.

Operational surveillance

Our operational engineers handle the operational surveillance of road tunnels and other technical installations within the area of the roads such as electrical, telecom, cable, ventilation and control as well as pump stations. We handle incoming alarms, analyse the seriousness of the incident, and forward calls reporting faults to the relevant contractor to ensure that the fault is rectified as quickly as possible.
